I have been very happy with my little Olympus
It is definitely pretty rugged and easy to use while snorkeling

It's funny but XD was supposed to be the better card over SD when it was released. It was supposed to reach much higher memory sizes. Not sure why it didn't pan out or if it ever will now. Kinda like Beta over VHS I guess.

Those Olympus cams are nice. A guy had one in Cuba and he was having great fun dropping it in the ocean and yelling like it wasn't waterproof every chance he got. Got a little old after the 3rd time or so. :-)

There are some good WP cams out now at decent prices. Canon has a nice one also. The Lumix is a reasonable price and has HD video which would be nice.

you are right about the XD
I have no problem with quality
It is cost and availability
It is the BETA of new media

But hey this bad boy was at probably 10ft and me and me on the surface with no enhancement - raw jpeg.  And all for $149 US on sale at COSTCO

Nice turtle! That's a good price for the camera too. Does it have an underwater setting that will boost the reds and blues in the pict that the water filters out? Not sure if the Lumix has but I know Canon's do and it can make a big difference to underwater picts.

You can boost the reds and blues back up in a photo editor also. It's a little time consuming but it takes the green tint out of the pict and restores the blue water:

yep and it is a simple choice on the switch which makes things a lot easier

I have a good one of a parrot fish that I will upload that shows how well the true colors come through

The price was a good one because they just introduced the new model and had a ton of the older ones.  It works for me.
